New York City couple Erin Finnegan and Noah Fulmor floated into matrimony on Saturday thousands of feet above the Gulf of Mexico in what event organizers said was the world's first weightless wedding held in zero gravity conditions.

The couple exchanged wedding vows and rings -- with some difficulty -- and fumbled their kiss flying weightless inside the padded fuselage of a specially modified Boeing 727-200 aircraft, G-Force One, operated by Zero Gravity Corp, or ZERO-G, a company offering weightless flight experiences.

"It was weirder than I expected. I've been to a lot of boring weddings, so I wanted to do something different," said Finnegan, who wore a "space fashion" white pantsuit whose trouser bottoms fluffed out during the weightless moments. Wires kept her hairdo from unraveling.

To recreate the weightless experience without going into space, the plane executed parabolic flight maneuvers, climbing sharply and descending several times during the one-hour flight.

Inside the 90-foot-long padded "floating zone," the ceremony was accomplished with a lot of bumping and fumbling, as bride and groom, guests and witnesses alike tried to co-ordinate their movements in a microgravity environment.

Officiating at the ceremony was Richard Garriott, a second- generation U.S. space traveller, and ZERO-G co-founder, who is also a registered notary.

Fulmor, whose tuxedo tails were specially stiffened so they would not float out of control, admitted he had trouble lining up his lips for the all-important wedding kiss.

"The physics of the first kiss were off. I could feel where I was going, I knew where I needed to be, but it was hard to reconcile the differences," he told reporters.

"Noah knocked into my nose and I thought it would bleed," Finnegan said.

The couple didn't drop the ring -- but there was momentary confusion when someone else's wedding band floated off a finger and into the wedding group, before it was rescued.

"I've waited my whole life for this," Fulmour said. "What I remember most was the feeling of weightlessness, both physically and emotionally

(IsraelNN.com) The Authority for Research and Development of Weapons in the Defense Ministry has developed a robot snake fitted with video and audio equipment that advances on the ground into enemy positions for intelligence collection. It can be used for special forces stealth operations, for crawling through Hamas tunnels or into Hizbullah bunkers. In addition, it could be used for locating survivors inside collapsed buildings after natural disasters or terror attacks.

The six-foot long snake can also be fitted with explosives and detonated inside enemy positions -- a capability dubbed as 'suicide.' The snake is currently in the prototype stage of development and has no price tag yet, but the Defense Ministry plans to begin production on a large scale soon.

According to a report on Channel 2, the snake can crawl into enemy positions through sewage pipes, under buildings and through forests. It is operated by one person with a laptop computer

I have personally witnessed small mountain goats, performing the acrobatic abilities and keeping the body balance like some pro martial artist. It used to be very common before the Internet / Satellite / Cable / Dish Channels era. The only entertainment in those days were these street performers, like snake charmers, dogs and bear fighting shows and acrobats.

A street perfomer guy with one trained monkey to perform various and hilarious acts, one goat who can climb hardly 2-inches wide wooden pieces formed in a shape of ladder, one crazy dog who tries to bite his tail and swings like a whirlpool.

Once I read, that the first ever human laughed when he/she saw his/her fellow fall on the ground, it was the begining of human smile and sense of humour.

I also read somewhere, that the one of the major difference in human and other animals is SMILE. Human can smile but animals can not.

But the question is why we small when we saw people falling???

Some say, it may be that humor is the brains natural response to coping with embarrassing, emotional, and physical pain.

Other say, just because humans are naturally horrible and enjoy seeing our kind humiliated- emotionally and physically. that's why we find humor in people falling, running into things, dropping or spilling things on themselves

Details about the bike are scarce, but it travels up to 50 miles on a full charge and has a top speed of 90 mph.

Still, Gryzch plans to outdo himself. He hopes to hit a travel range of 300 miles. I hope he does too!

Richard Gryzch has never filled the gas tank of his motorcycle.

That's surprising considering he rides it everyday.

That's right. His bike runs entirely off the sun and it's a project the Apache Junction man has been working on for more than two years.

"No gas, just hit the throttle and go," he said. "It's always been a dream of mine to build this bike."

Gryzch believes it's the first solar charged electric motorcycle in the world.

He's even given it a special name: The Solar Flyer.

Gryzch said he named it after the Radio Flyer, the popular red wagon from his childhood.

But his bike is far more sophisticated.

It tops 90 mph and can travel up to 50 miles at a time.

Not too bad, Gryzch said, but still admitting that he thinks he can do better.

"I've got a 300 mile plan," he said. "I'm not quite there."

Gryzch has given up a lot to build the bike, including selling a home and other motorcycles to finance the project.

"Everyone told me I was crazy for doing it," he said. "But I'm riding it and it works. And it could change everything."

We have seen many times, wedding ceremony going distorted and sometimes destroyed by some sad and sudden events. Things get out of control and leave us with heavy heart. In asia, wedding ceremonies often are held in open space (in tents) and have to face the weather changes like storm or rain coming. In Indian Movies, we have also seen brides dress caught fire during phairay (seven rounds around fire). But this western bride's dress was also caught fire. She was carrying a tray with burning cock-tail glasses on her Wedding Planner suggestion, when she got distracted and somewhat scared by a flying insect (moth).

The guests put off fire and hopefully she is safe but only disturbed. Watch this video.

The Parrot who plays dead, golf n basketball, gymnastics

The parrot, called AJ, can be seen putting a golf ball, slam dunking a basketball and performing gymnastic routines.

Thousands of fans have watched the sporting all-rounder demonstrate his prowess in a series of clips on video sharing website YouTube.

The green and yellow parrot’s personal trainer offers encouragement from the sidelines with comments such as “good bird” and “good job.”

And the bird psyches himself up for the challenge by repeating: “Put the ball in the basket. Put the ball in the basket.”

The Indian Ringneck Parakeet starts his gymnastic routine by playing dead and jumping to his feet as a man out of view of the camera says: “get up”.

The 18 year old parrot rolls over sideways and climbs onto his trainer’s finger, which he uses as a high bar to perform more remarkable stunts.

As the trainer says “do a flip” and “turn around” the obedient parrot rolls over the finger using his feet to grip. He then balances and turns on the spot.

AJ certainly loves golf. I would say that is his favourite sport and he even watches it on television

He finishes the routine by offering a claw to shake hands.

The parrot leaves the gymnasium and heads to a miniature golf course where he holds a club in his beak and swings at a ball.

The ball rolls smoothly across the green, avoiding the bunkers, and falls into the hole - possibly for a birdie.

Eager AJ picks the ball out of the hole and hands it to his trainer.

He then plays the ball again to demonstrate his previous effort was not a fluke.

Taking a miniature yellow basketball in his beak, the parrot climbs a ladder onto a table with court markings and a basketball net and backboard at one end.

He repeats his trainer’s command to “put the ball in the basket” and slams the ball through the hoop for two points.

The video finishes with AJ looking at the camera with a sense of pride at what he has achieved.

Owner Dave Cota, of Florida, USA, said he believed AJ was the most sporty bird in the world. The 40 year old, an entrepreneur who has worked in the sports industry, said: “It seems that he can play anything I show him.

“I have had him since he was very young and he just loves to play sports.

“I have had no trouble trianing him at all - he is very special.

“He even tells himself to do his own tricks before doing them.

“AJ certainly loves golf. I would say that is his favourite sport and he even watches it on television.”

That's because this unusual place allows visitors to 'interact' freely with all their animals - even the wild cats!

On the surface, a trip to the Lujan Zoo, feels like any other Zoo. For a $7 USD fee, visitors can walk around and admire a number of animals, ranging from deer to llama to ducks and rabbits. Also, just like any other trendy Zoo, this one too offers camel and elephant rides.

However, step near the caged wild animal area, and you will start to see a difference. Instead of peering at a lion, tiger or cheetah from a distance, the Zoo allows visitors to hang with them - inside their cages, if they so wish!

They can ride abreast a lion or feed milk to a baby tiger, or better still - cuddle up with a real bear. It's all not only possible, but encouraged.

In fact, the girl in the picture, said that she and her friend were allowed to hang out at the Zoo after it closed. She then got to feed milk to a tiger, directly from her hand. She also held a monkey that was chewing gum! For the grand finale, she and her friend went on a VIP train ride, to take a closer look at a number of tractors that are scattered all around the Zoo.

As you would expect, this unusual practice is creating some tension amongst animal experts around the world, who believe that the Zoo's actions are irresponsible and dangerous - On the other hand, the visitors seem to love it!

The Nine Emperor Gods Festival, also known as Vegetarian festival, a Chinese festival to celebrate the return from heaven to earth of the Nine Emperor spirits. The festival falls on the ninth day of the ninth moon in the Chinese lunar calendar.

In Thailand, this festival is called Tesagan Gin Je, the Vegetarian Festival. Over the nine days from October 11 to Octoer 19, Chinese in Phuket Island celebrate the festival by holding a massive street processions by ‘Carrying Gods‘, they are believed to be ‘possessed by the spirits of gods’, so that they can perform some outstanding stunts.

Australian and Japanese researchers have demonstrated the application of RNAi technology for gene replacement in plants, developing the world's only blue rose.

Kyra the Komondor - Worlds Hairiest Dog

A quarter of the UK population of a rare dog breed now reside in a Newquay home after a new mum gave birth to Britain's biggest-ever litter.

There were nine new wagging tails this week after mum Kyra gave birth to nine Komondor puppies – reportedly worth £1,000 each.

The breed is regarded as the world's hairiest dog because their fur grows in long dreadlocks which resemble a 'mop' reaching the floor.

There were only 40 Komondors in Britain but its population has gone up by a quarter thanks to Kyra's unprecedented litter.

Each fluffy pup is identical and so have been marked with a different colour on their tails to tell them apart - and also helping name them.

Owners Gareth and Debi Young said they were "stunned" when Kyra produced nine pups.
Mum-of-two Debi, 48, said: "We were amazed when she produced a litter of nine - a typical litter is around four.

"I've never heard of such a high number. Komondors are fantastic animals - very loyal and sociable. They are quite a handful though.

"They're all doing well though and are an adorable little rabble. Looking after them is a full-time job at the moment.

"I think the dogs are so rare because they are very hard to breed, and are also quite a lot of work.

"You have to maintain their coats, which grow as a mass of matted dreadlocks. I think generally people are often put off by all the effort."

The litter are known Red, Blue, Purple, Green, Silver, Brown, Pink, White and Tiny - named because he was slightly smaller than the rest.

Komondors are known as "the ultimate sheep-dog" and come from Hungary where they were traditionally used to protect sheep and cattle.

The dogs - which grow up to 80 lbs (36kg) and to 30 inches - took on wolves and bears and it is believed their hair is thick enough to protect them from wolf bites.
The pups are now being cared for by the family including daughters Billie, 12 and Alice, eight, and plan to sell eight of them.

Gareth, 39, a fitness coach, said: "They are not dogs people should consider owning unless they have had experience with dogs before.

"It is very important to us that we find good homes for the pups. Whoever buys them needs a good-sized garden and good grooming skills."

Once widespread, there are now only several thousand of the dogs worldwide with the majority in the United States.

The Fountains of the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas (USA) are a vast, choreographed water fountains with performances set to light and music. The performances are visible from numerous vantage points on the Strip, both from the street and from neighboring structures. The fountain's show takes place every 30 minutes in the afternoons and early evenings, and every 15 minutes from 8 PM to midnight. The Fountains are set in a nine-acre man-made lake. The fountain is framed by an octahedral bowl of red granite with a surface area of 4,000 square meters. The fountain is serviced by a complex system of eight powerful pumps that can shoot 1,200 liters of water from 800 jets to the height of 24 meters per second.

Trevi Fountain (Rome): World's Most Famous Fountain

Standing 25.9 meters (85 feet) high and 19.8 meters (65 feet) wide, the Trevi Fountain (Fontana di Trevi) features one of Italy's most beautiful sculptures: Neptune or Oceanus in the middle and two tritons, one trying to tame a fiery horse symbolizing the rough sea, and one blowing a shell-horn symbolizing the quiet sea. It was ordered in 1732 by Clemens XII and thirty years later his predecessor Clemens XIII christened it.

The Fontana dell'Ovato (Oval Fountain), also called Fontana di Tivoli, is located in Villa d'Este, Tivoli, Italy. The fountain cascades from its egg-shaped basin into a pool set against a rustic nymphaeum. The design was made by Pirro Ligorio. The whole Villa was declared a UNESCO world heritage site in 2001.

The Atlas moth (Attacus Atlas) is a large saturniid moth found in the tropical and subtropical forests of Southeast Asia, southern China, common across the Malay archipelago, Thailand to Indonesia.

In India, Atlas moths are cultivated for their silk in a non-commercial capacity; unlike that produced by the related Silkworm moth (Bombyx mori), Atlas moth silk is secreted as broken strands. This brown, wool-like silk is thought to have greater durability and is known as fagara. Atlas moth cocoons have been employed as purses in Taiwan.

Atlas moths are considered to be the largest moths in the world in terms of total wing surface area (upwards of c. 400 square cm or 65 square inches). Their wingspans are also amongst the largest, from 25-30 cm (10-12 inches). Females are appreciably larger and heavier.

Atlas moths are said to be named after either the Titan of Greek mythology, or their map-like wing patterns. In Hong Kong the Cantonese name translates as "snake's head moth", referring to apical extension of the forewing, which bears a passing resemblance to a snake's head.

Atlas moths are predominantly tawny to maroon in colour with roughly triangular, diaphanous "eyes" on both forewing and hindwing, bordered in black. The purpose of these dramatic, gossamer portals is not clear, but they are thought to play a role in predator avoidance. Their bodies are hairy and disproportionately small compared to their wings.

Majid al-Maliki, 39, has been eating reptiles for 22 years

A Saudi man set a new world record last month after he ate 22 live scorpions in 20 seconds at a show in Riyadh. The 39-year-old earned a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records but told AlArabiya.net that is not why he did it.

"It's always been my hobby to eat scorpions," Majid al-Maliki told, adding that he once ate 50 live scorpions in one meal.

When asked how he eats the scorpions, Maliki replied that he treats them like any other type of food, he chews and then swallows.

The Riyadh-based civil servant said he enjoys eating all types and sizes of scorpions, but especially relishes in the yellow species known as Palestinian.

Maliki said he has been eating scorpions for 22 years and said he also eats snakes, small crocodiles and lizards. "I can eat 10 snakes at a time," he said.

Maliki explained he has never been poisoned and said he cuts part of the scorpion's spike so that the sting is mild.

"Even if it stings, the poison won't affect me," he said, adding that it is not the sting that kills but the person's fear as people tend to panic causing the temperature to rapidly rise, which causes death.

"I advise everyone to stay calm after being stung since it is fear that kills," he said. "Scorpion poison has many benefits and as long as there are no ulcers, it is ok if the poison reaches the stomach."

The Flying Fish...Amazing Natural Wonder

The Exocoetidae or flying fish are a marine fish family comprising about 50 species grouped in 7 to 9 genera. Flying fish are found in all of the major oceans, particularly in the warm tropical and subtropical waters of the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian oceans.

Their most striking feature is their pectoral fins, which are unusually large, and enable the fish to take short gliding flights through air, above the surface of the water, in order to escape from predators. Their glides are typically around 50m, but they can use updrafts at the leading edge of waves to cover distances of at least 400m

In May 2008, a Japanese television crew (NHK) filmed a flying fish (dubbed "Icarfish") off the coast of Yakushima Island, Japan. The creature spent 45 seconds in flight. This is thought to be one of the longest recorded flights by a specimen of that family. The fish was able to stay aloft by occasionally beating the surface of the water with its caudal fin. The previous record was 42 seconds.

In 1984-6 while cruising the Eastern South Pacific on a 9.2 meter sloop saw many flying fish. While beating the fins may not provide sufficient lift to keep the fish aloft they almost invariably beat their fins for a short period after leaving the water. The typical flight path was upwind and up a wave. At some point, perhaps that at which they began to lose altitude, the fish would turn downwind for a fixed-wing glide. The overall impression was similar to a pheasant breaking cover and taking to the air. Flying fish frequently achieved a sufficient altitude, two-thirds of a meter, to land on deck.

Worlds Smallest Man & Longest Leg Woman

One is the smallest man in the world, the other is the woman with the longest legs and the instructions from the former to the latter when they met this morning: 'Don't look up.'
At just 29.37in tall, He Ping Ping's little head barely reaches Svetlana Pankrtova's knees.
But then, her legs do go on a fair way - measuring 51.96in long.

At 6ft 7in from head to toe, Pankratova is well short of being the tallest living woman. That honour goes to Yao Defen, who stands 7ft 9in.

An impression she seemed keen to emphasise this morning by wearing what appeared to be the world's shortest skirt.
Not that He Ping Ping seemed to mind, happily posing underneath Pankratova's legs - and he even had a sneaky look up.

The 20-year-old had jetted in from his home in northern China to help launch the latest edition of the Guinness World Records Book in Trafalgar Square, Central London.

Craig Glenday, the book's editor, recently told the Daily Record newspaper how much he enjoyed his work.
He said: 'It's a great job, and there's so much travel involved. Earlier this year I did my own world record for travel, which was 44 hours non-stop.
'I was in Inner Mongolia meeting He Ping Ping, the world's shortest man (74.61cm) who actually lives quite near Bao Xi Shun, the world's tallest man (2m 36.1cm).
'I was on my way, via Paris, to Chile for a flight to Antarctica with the band Fall Out Boy, who were trying to set a record for the shortest time it would take to play on every continent in the world.

'Unfortunately the weather was so bad that we couldn't make it in the end.' The Guinness World Record Book is out tomorrow

The African Snake Girl (Contortionist)

Nokulunga Buthelezi - The Snake Girl (Contortionist)

Then Nokulunga - known as Lunga, or, more flamboyantly, Snake-Girl says her amazing talent has always just come naturally ? even as a baby the South African would bend over backwards in her cot.

But Lunga, this tiny 18-year-old contortionist with huge eyes - fresh from a triumphant two-year run in Germany where two million people paid to see her - is the undoubted star of the show.

Lunga was born in Johannesburg, South Africa, and tells her story like a child reciting a fairy tale. Even as a baby, she says, she contorted in her cot.

"I slept with my legs behind my head and my hands behind my back," she says, grinning. "My mum thought there was something wrong with me."
But apart from this small quirk, baby Lunga was in perfect health. By the time she was ten months old, she was doing the splits in the living room. Then her grandmother Thuli recalled that her own mother had a snake-like flexibility.
"I never met my great-grandmother, but apparently she was as flexible as I am," says Lunga. "I was glad when I learnt that, because I used to think: 'Why am I like this? Why am I the only one who can do it?'"
here is, apparently, a 'snake' gene in Lunga's family, and it pops out every couple of generations.
At school, Lunga says she interrupted lessons to show the teacher her moves, and at break times she did demonstrations for her classmates - and charged them for the privilege. (Her brother, Bheki, collected the money and they spent it on sweets.)
I wonder if the snake-child was bullied - like the fat kid, or the clever kid, or the, well, freak kid. But no. Lunga is beautiful and confident, and this surely helped.
"All the other kids wished they were as flexible as me." She gives a proud smile. "But only I could do it."

Like her great-grandmother, Lunga might have stayed an amateur snake-woman. But one day, when Lunga was seven, her mother Nokuthula met a gymnast called Sylvester performing in the local shopping mall, and she told him about her incredible bending daughter.

"He came round and saw me, and he realised I didn't need any training to be a contortionist," she says.
Sylvester took her to auditions for the UniverSoul Circus, which was recruiting in South Africa. They took her on instantly, but insisted she go to circus school in Cape Town to sort out her routine, which in Lunga's case meant simply rolling her moves into a seven minute sequence.
When she was ready, she was literally taken away to join the circus - every English child's bedtime fantasy - in America. She had a chaperone called Catherine, and she did her lessons between hours on the sawdust, returning home every three months to see her family, whom she was already supporting financially.
Today, she earns about £50,000 a year - top whack for circus performers and the going rate for a photogenic snake-girl.

£I had never left my family before so it was pretty difficult," she says. "But I got used to it." And it was wonderful, she says, growing up in a Big Top.
She used to ride on the elephants' backs, and even polish their toenails. When a tiger escaped from its cage, she says, it padded backstage and eyeballed her.
It must have been the oddest of childhoods, and being a snake-girl had trials all of its own.
"I was only nine when all these responsibilities came crashing down on my head," she says. "I always wanted to go to a real school, and I never will now. It's nice to travel the world, but sometimes I wish I had done the things other teenagers do - go to school, play truant, get into trouble, sneak off to the movies. Just have fun.
"And it would have been nice to have people my own age around me. I was always the youngest."
Neither, she says, does she have time for that other rite of teenage passage, a boyfriend.
And as the circus people pop in and out of the office, I realise she is a bit of a pet. They kiss her, and pat her, and treat her like a (child) star.
This explains her strange combination of sophistication and naivete. "I was always a tomboy," she says. "I was never girlie. I never liked Barbie."
Of course she didn't. Barbie is for girls growing up in the suburbs and dreaming of something more interesting - not for tiny snake-girls taking their bows.
"Although," and she sits up straight as she says this, "I am trying to be like a lady."
She is also continuing her studies by correspondence course between shows, but she doesn't know when she will retire.
"I have seen contortionists in their 70s," she tells me, "so who knows how long I will do it for?"
How does a snake-girl maintain herself? She says she eats very healthily: no carbohydrates, hardly any meat, and chocolate only once a week.
"I have to keep my weight straight," she adds, adding, very tactfully: "My mother is not a small person."
Are there any fat contortionists? "There are fat contortionists," she says, "but it doesn't look attractive, because you wear very tight costumes."
She joined Africa! Afrika! two years ago, when she was 16. When they were in Frankfurt, Lunga went to see a specialist about her 'flexibility' and he X-rayed her in a contortion position.
"He said I am as normal as everyone else. I am just more flexible."
Even when she occasionally makes a mistake in her act, she never falls, and she has never injured herself. Her super-bendy body just carries her through.
"If I fall, everyone thinks it is a new trick," she says.
She loves being snake-girl. "I like to torture people with it," she says. "People scream and cry when I do my act. A lot of them think it is disgusting."
She seems rather thrilled by this. "I am different. And I like to be different."
She certainly is. But doesn't she ever wish it would go away and she could be normal? "Even if I wanted it to leave, it wouldn't," she says, adding vaguely: "I still contort in my sleep.
"It isn't nice to be compared to a snake. The flexibility of a snake is very good: but the other characteristics are the worst."
She falls to the floor and does her snake act. Her body seems to be made of rubber. She melts, bending her legs over her head, tucking her hands and feet into places non-snake-girls simply cannot reach. It does look wildly creepy, even disgusting.
And she chatters away, bending herself over again. "People always ask me: 'How do you do this?' But I don't know. Nobody knows. Only God knows."
"Do you know," she adds, "that I can't do a straight hand-stand? I'm too flexible." And, smiling at me like a child with an incredible toy, she sticks her foot on her head. Again.

While most "flying car" concepts to date have incorporated detachable or trailerable wings, the Transition has electromechanical folding wings that convert the vehicle in 30 seconds. The company says production models will meet Light Sport specifications and be street legal.
Test pilot Col. Phil Meteer (retired) said the first flight went well. "The first flight was remarkably unremarkable. I've flown several thousand hours in everything from Piper Cubs to F-16s, and the Transition flew like a really nice airplane." The first example will be used for advanced flight and road testing while a production prototype is built. The second aircraft will go through the ASTM review process for Light Sport certification. Terrafugia says Transition will cruise 450 miles at 115 knots and is capable of highway speeds in car mode. If only Sachin Tendulkar had listened to his son, he may have a century of centuries in international cricket now.

When the master batsman fell for 97 in the fourth cricket ODI against Pakistan in Gwalior, it was the 23rd time in Tests and ODIs that he has got out in the 90s. In ODIs, he has got out in the 90s as many as 16 times and in Tests 07 times. He has 78 centuries to his credit -- 41 in ODIs and 37 in Tests, and the 23 missed ones would have taken his tally to 101. Unbelievably, he has fallen in the 90s seven times this year.

Asked about these surprise failures, Tendulkar laughingly disclosed a solution offered by his son. " My son told me why don't you hit a six when on 94".

"Well, these things happen. What is most satisfying for me is that we won both the match and the series," he said after India clinched a ODI series triumph over Pakistan on home soil after 24 years by winning the fourth ODI by six wickets. Nadya Vessey (double amputee) who lost both her legs as a child has turned into a mermaid with the help of an Oscar-winning special-effects workshop.
Nadya Vessey, from Auckland, New Zealand, suffered a medical condition as a child that forced doctors to amputate both her legs.
When a little boy asked her what happened to her legs, she told him she was a mermaid.

The idea stuck - and, two years ago, she wrote to Oscar-winning special effects company Weta Workshop in Wellington, New Zealand, to ask them to make her a tail.
She never believed they actually would.
But for the people behind the special effects in blockbuster hits like 'Lord of the Rings', 'The Chronicles of Narnia', and 'King Kong', the task was a piece of cake.
Now the astounded - and delighted - Nadya has a fully-functioning tail.
It comes complete with a fitted suit, and covered with digitally printed sock with hand-painted mermaid scales.
'A prosthetic is a prosthetic, and your body has to be comfortable with it and you have to mentally make it part of yourself,' Nadya, who has been swimming in a pool and Auckland Harbour, told New Zealand media.
'It was absolutely amazing,' said costumer Lee Williams. 'It's beautiful to watch Nadya swim and to see that dream come true and to be a part of that. I feel quite blessed.'
Williams said she had 'wanted [Nadya] to be beautiful and sexy'.

And it was important the tail look realistic, she added. 'What became apparent was that she actually physically wanted to look like a mermaid.'
Weta Workshop director Richard Taylor, more used to winning Oscars for visual effects from movies such as Lord of the Rings, was delighted to make it happen.
'She was very patient. We haven't always been able to fulfil some requests. We were engaged in it pretty quickly because it was a challenge.'

92 year old woman pregnant for 60 years (1948)

STUNNED doctors discovered a woman complaining of stomach ache had been carrying her unborn child for 60 YEARS

Huang Yijun, 92, of Huangjiaotan, southern China, was told by medics in 1948 that her child had died in the womb.

Doctors demanded £100 to remove it, so she walked away.

She said: "It was a huge sum at the time - more than the whole family earned in several years so I did nothing and ignored it.”

But the secret emerged when Huang hurt her stomach and went to hospital for a scan.

Dr Liu Anbin at Qingshen hospital said: "I couldn’t believe my eyes when I discovered she had a baby in her belly.

“I’ve been a doctor for more than 40 years and it’s the first time I have seen something like this."

Now medics are carrying out further tests to see if Huang needs an operation to remove the baby.

Consultant Xu Xianming, director of the Obstetrics and Gynecology department at the hospital, said: "Normally a dead foetus would decay. It’s very rare that Huang can be so healthy."

Worlds Top Giant Trucks

The Caterpillar 797

The Caterpillar 797 and 797B series are one of the worlds biggest production mining trucks with a payload of 360 tons, but has recently been superceded by the awesome Liebherr T282 ( see further down the page)

The engine in the Cat 797 is a 100% diesel powered Model 3524B, not like the rest of these big trucks that are diesel-electric similar to locomotives. The Cat 3524B diesel engine features electronic unit injection, an ADEM II electronic controller, and a 3500 series fuel system with after cooling and four single stage turbochargers

The 3524B has plenty of power to move large loads and maintain good speed, even up grades. It can travel at 40MPH loaded. It produces 3224 hp at the flywheel. The fuel tank holds 1000 Gallons.

Fitted with Caterpillar Oil cooled multiple disk brakes, it can stop pretty quickly too.

The Cat 797 is fitted with an Automatic Gearbox with 7 forward and 1 reverse gears

Komatsu 930e (Below)
The Komatsu 930e HaulPak is a seriously large truck and as with all of these trucks it may seam like the images have been 'photo-shopped' to give a false impression of their size, this however is not the case. A standing person of average height will be eye level to the centre of the wheels hub.

The Komatsu 930e HaulPak series is at present the companies biggest production truck, with a payload of 330 tons

Liebherr T282 (Below)
The Liebherr T282 series is the biggest truck that company build's, being able to haul 400 tons with 3500 brake horse power. The price for one of these T282's is $3,000,000 not including tyres.

If you could put British Chieftain tanks @ 56 tons apiece into the dumpers of these monsters then you would be able to put SIX of them in at the same time...and then carry them...easily !!!

All of these trucks don't have wing mirrors to see what is behind when they reverse, instead they have got video cameras, usually two on either side and another on the rear axle.

Including oil, fuel and coolant these trucks normally have about 5 ton of fluids onboard.

These vehicles normally consume between 35 to 45 gallons of diesel per engine/hour

Rare Vietnam Rhino Snake in Europe

The snake has a long nose like an African rhino, though it comes from the mountains of Vietnam.

The young are also grey like the rhino but will turn green after about a year. The adults, that grow to about three feet (one metre) long and feed on geckos, frogs and rodents, are nicknamed the "green unicorn".

London Zoo managed to hatch eight rare rhino rat snakes, a first for a European Zoo, in the heated reptile house.

The species are found in relatively low numbers in the wild and only a couple have ever been found by scientists.

Therefore it is a great success for conservation of the species and the Zoological Society of London have already sent three of the young snakes to different zoos as part of an exchange programme to increase the captive population in Europe.

It is believed the snakes evolved their extraordinary noses to catch drinking water in the native rainforests.

Ian Stephen, assistant curator of herpetology at London Zoo, said the rare snakes are popular with visitors.

"They are one of the cutests snake you ever saw," he said. "If anyone comes to the zoo who does not like snakes, they warm to the rhino snake. It is a really beautiful and interesting so it is great we have managed to breed it."

The 10ft Liger who's still growing...

He looks like something from a prehistoric age or a fantastic creation from Hollywood . But Hercules is very much living flesh and blood - as he proves every time he opens his gigantic mouth to roar. Part lion, part tiger, he is not just a big cat but a huge one, standing 10ft tall on his back legs. Called a liger, in reference to his crossbreed parentage, he is the largest of all the cat species.

On a typical day he will devour 20lb of meat, usually beef or chicken, and is capable of eating 100lb at a single setting. At just three years old, Hercules already weighs half a ton.

He is the accidental result of two enormous big cats living close together at the Institute of Greatly Endangered and Rare Species, in Miami, Florida , and already dwarfs both his arents. "Ligers are not something we planned on having," said institute owner Dr Bhagavan Antle. "We have lions and tigers living together in large enclosures and at first we had no idea how well one of the lion boys was getting along with a tiger girl, then loo and behold we had a liger."

50mph runner... Not only that, but he likes to swim, a feat unheard of among water-fearing lions. In the wild it is virtually impossible for lions and tigers to mate. Not only are they enemies likely to kill one another, but most lions are in Africa and most tigers in Asia . But incredible though he is, Hercules is not unique. Ligers have been bred in captivity, deliberately and accidentally, since shortly before World War II.

Today there are believed to be a handful of ligers around the world and a similar number of tigons, the product of a tiger father and lion mother. Tigons are smaller than ligers and take on more physical characteristics of the tiger.
